I waved my hand at the busy streets of New York City. A yellow taxi bus stopped right in front of me as I got into the car. I closed the car door as the driver checked out the rearview mirror.
Destination: Tour New York City.
“You don’t mind, do you?” I said in English to the driver. “I come from Seoul and I just wanted to ask if you can drive me around the City. Do you mind giving me a mini tour?”
“Sure,” the driver replied. “However, you know this will be quick expensive as the fare will cost based on how many miles I’ve drive.”
“Hurry, hurry!” I urged. “You just picked me up in Soho, now can we go along Broadway?”
The driver laughed. “Sure sure, where would you like to start, Miss?”
“Well…Mr. Taxi….I’ve heard about the Empire State Building. Shall we start there?”
The driver nodded and the taxi was headed towards the beginning of her destination.
The city lights are like shooting stars,
Non-stop until the next destination,
Leaving only the sound of the engine.
See you again, I say good-bye from behind. I looked at my watch, it was near midnight. “So…so far we’ve seen the Empire State Building, the World Trade Center, the Stature of Liberty from afar, the busy streets of Broadway, City Hall, the Manhattan Bridge, and many more.
“Thank you so much for the ride, sir.” I got out of the Taxi. “How much is it?”
“I got it covered,” he winked at me.
I laughed. “Thank you, Mr. Taxi.”
